Humble

We had a time of ministration with a discipleship group during our worship practice tonight.  It was a good time and the presence of the Holy Spirit was evident.  What really struck me was one of the musicians who leads worship from time to time went forward right away when and invitation was made for prayer.  I was surprised that he was the first to go forward and the last to leave.  It can be hard for someone who is a leader to ask for prayer or help.  Actually, it can be hard for anyone to walk to the front of their church with people they know watching and receive prayer.  It takes a humble person.
It’s something else we can learn from our children.  My boys don’t have any problem asking for help.  As soon as they need help they call me.  In Matthew’s picture he needed help just to stand up.  If Samuel and I had let go of his hands he would have fallen.  But if he never reaches out for our hands to help him stand or walk, he won’t learn how to do it on his own.  He’ll just keep crawling.  He’ll stay at the same level.
Humbling ourselves is a requirement for growth and rising to new levels.  Sounds like and oxymoron, but it’s the truth.  Do you want to grow?  Do you want a promotion?  Do you want a breakthrough?  Humble yourself before the Lord.  Recognize that you cant go all day without his presence.  Recognize that you cant even go an hour without his presence.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:10
He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
Luke 1:52
