I finally took down the Christmas decorations today. Well all but one silver ball hanging from the ceiling that seems impossible to reach. I either need a pro basketball player, or a ladder to take it down. If I wasn’t pregnant I would climb on my hubby’s shoulders, but it just seems to risky with a baby involved. Anyway as soon as I started putting things in the box Josiah started taking them back out and redecorating the house for Christmas. When I started taking ornaments off the tree he said, “no, no, no!” He really didn’t like it when the tree came apart and Samuel put it back in the box.
I have to agree with him though. There is something about Christmas that makes us want it to last forever. The good thing is that the message of Christmas is one that we can carry with us our whole lives. It is the beginning of the story of redemption and forgiveness that changed forever the course of history and the destiny of the human race. It’s about God in human form, coming to sacrifice himself to save his beloved. Let’s keep the message alive all year long.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:6-7
