Back To Basics

It seems no matter how many toys I buy for my boys, they end up playing and having fun with simple things.  Matthew loves playing with empty water bottles and the baby wipe box.  For Josiah there isn’t much he can’t find a way to play with.  They both had a blast this weekend when we made a tent in the living room with four chairs and a sheet.  How much have I spent on toys and all they really need for a good time is four chairs and a sheet!
Sometimes we complicate things.  We as Christians get caught up in so many things.  Our theology.  Our strategies.  Our activities.  Our methods.  Over spiritualizing.  Under spiritualizing.  Being politically correct.  Maybe we need to take a step back and start to see things like my kids do.  Simply.  Let’s get back to the basics of our faith.  The truth of the Word and the Lord’s salvation.  Sheet tents in the living room is something so basic, but so good.  The basics of the faith are even better.  Let’s not lose them.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
