I’m washing diapers. Glamorous, I know. I just washed dishes to! In a few minutes I’ll make dinner. And then I will eat it, cold. Does it sound like I’m complaining? Well I am!
Could my purpose really be wiping little tushies? I mean, wasn’t I made for more than this? Wasn’t I made in God’s image?
Yes, I was. But what is it to be made in His image? What does He even look like? And who was the perfect example of the image of God? Jesus, who came as a servant and washed feet.
That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not to be served-and then to give away his life in exchange for many who are held hostage.
So he got up from the supper table, set aside his robe, and put on an apron. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, drying them with his apron.
