This video is just a glimpse into our family life. This is how we do family devotions at the Sanchez house. Because we have boys. And they are active. And they are young. They are children.
It may seem that they are just running around in circles. But if you look close you’ll see their praise. If you look past what they’re wearing. If you look past their running. You’ll see their joyful worship. If you listen closely you can hear their little voices joining into the song. In their own special way.
I find myself shushing them. I find myself telling them to calm down. I find myself getting frustrated with their immaturity. I find myself trying to teach them to be miniature adults when they are just children.
But Jesus doesn’t ask us to teach our children to be little adults. He actually instructs us to do the opposite. To look at them. To learn from them. To be more like them. So I’ll join them as they run, and play, and praise the Lord.
I’ll just do it wearing more clothes than they were. LOL. (For those who don’t know we have been at or over 100 degrees for 40 days in a row now here in DFW! It’s way to hot for little boys to wear clothes.)
At about the same time, the disciples came to Jesus asking, "Who gets the highest rank in God's kingdom?"
For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, "I'm telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you're not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God's kingdom. What's more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it's the same as receiving me.
Matthew 18:1-5
Love it, and their praise is a sweet sound to the King! I'm just amazed at the different ways to praise and how God knows the heart.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Praise unto the Lord. Thak you for sharing through the view of your beautiful sons.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Love it!! This was the first song my little man would sing for worship. First, just the na-na's then the motions, then all the words. So wonderful to teach them so young. Thank you for linking this up!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a most fun way to praise God!
ReplyDeleteO how beatiful. I like that little video! And yes, I also trying to teach them to be miniature adults but they are just children.
ReplyDeleteThis same idea has been on my heart a lot lately!!! why us it so hard for me to let go and let the joy flow?!?
ReplyDeleteAnd I, too, have loads of undie/diaper pics of my kids when we lived in DFW. Now our legs rarely see the light if day.. Lol
My kids would dance and run in 'circles' too and they had a blast. Looks likes yours are too!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the video won't load for me, but from your words I can imagine what is going on! You are a wise mamma for cluing into this. Planting seeds sometimes requires doing it on a moving target! Especially with boys. Love your heart and wisdom to keep planting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful writing of beautiful praise. God is smiling on them -- and you as you teach them the importance of praise to their Heavenly Father.
ReplyDeleteThanks for encouraging me to think outside the box!
ReplyDeleteBest way in the whole world to get 'em to go to sleep, later! Get that energy out!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. I'm so thankful for Jesus-loving mommies!

You know what? I absolutely needed to read this today. I am forever trying to quell my boys' energy and enthusiasm -- it's like I want them to act like adults, when in fact, they are active, young boys filled with energy and joy. A much-needed message, Christy -- thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Great reminder of the importance of innocent, pure joy.
ReplyDeleteYes! What a great reminder. I often prod my little person to sit down, listen carefully, and understand the Word, but if I let her, she'd have her own way of praising and pleasing Him. They love Him in a way we don't even remember.
