What Are We Celebrating?

Last Sunday was cold.  This is odd because my boys’ swimsuits were still hanging in the bathroom from the previous day’s swimming in the back yard.  We’ve been having crazy weather the past couple of weeks!
When we left church my mother in law called to let us know she had made albondigas (a Mexican meatball soup) because it was so cold.  So we went to her house for some yummy homemade warmth.  My sister in law and her family went to.
At some point Josiah had to go to the bathroom so I took him.  As he’s sitting there and I’m waiting for him, he says “Mami, what celebrating?”  I said, “nothing sweetie, we aren’t celebrating anything.”  He repeated his question several times and I replied the same way.  I guess he thought since the family was together we must be celebrating something.  By about the fourth time he asked I finally said, “I don’t know.  You tell me.  What are we celebrating?”
He got a big smile on his face and exclaimed, “Jesus!”  I caught my breath and held back my tears.  “Yes, mi amor, we’re celebrating Jesus.  We’re always celebrating Jesus.”
We are never without a reason to celebrate.  God sent His only son as a sacrifice to cleanse us from our sins and reunite our hearts with his.  That’s more than enough of a reason to celebrate every day!
"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.”
John 3:16
From the bottom of my heart I thank you, dear Lord; I've never kept secret what you're up to.  You've always been great toward me-what love! You snatched me from the brink of disaster!
Psalm 86:12-13
